Varied Shapes & Sharp Angles...

Varied Shapes & Sharp Angles...

Looking at what the future will bring / what started as an idea for an ongoing recording project has now since evolved into an umbrella concept of sorts...

Unconventional living...

It's not just artists. Everyone in this city is juggling a multitude of engagements --most of them spending all the money they make in order to support their own unique hyper-existence. I love it... Savings account? I'll get back to you on that one... :/

What I love about not having a 9-5 job, is that my days are varied and my schedule is constantly changing. I am making the money that I need to survive, and yes it is a hustle/struggle at times, but I make it work. *Side note* when I say "struggle," I mean in a first-world sort of way. Don't worry, I'm very aware of my lack of true genuine struggle *end side note*... It feels as if I get to see things other people might not see because I am darting all over the place, slipping in and out of different scenarios...

In this moment, I am feeling pretty good about this lifestyle, humming on in a fairly stable #goodvibes gear... More sustainable than the highest of highs. MUCH MORE... Let's see how long this feeling lasts shall we. 2 hours? HA

Yesterday was a dope day. I woke up, had a cappuccino at my local coffee spot, Taszo, then, I headed down to have Pho in the East Village with a friend visiting from the UK... I showed her around what is still one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city, stopping by the forever quaint Ost Cafe, where I used to fashion latte-art-laden espresso beverages for the coffee snobs (myself included) of the neighborhood :P

I then made my way to a studio in Long Island City for a photo shoot with a photographer and we just... played. In pretentious artist terms, we "collaborated," and it was wonderful --I can't wait to share the photographs with you all! What's great is I worked a catering event in December at that very studio, and that's how we met, AND thus how we ended up doing this whole photo shoot thing --I love things like that... 'Synchronistic!' as Julia Cameron, would say

Then, to top off the night, I rushed back up to Washington Heights to co-host LGBTaszo. Basically, every other Thursday from 7pm to close, we hang out, and meet/mingle with wonderful people from around the community (not exclusively for LGBTQ people btw!). We drink (not required) and be merry! Last night we held a raffle, with the proceeds going to the Ali Forney Center (#HarlemNoHate)

Sunrise in Manchester...

I'm gonna be up front and say that I am not really a morning person. So, needless to say, I see more sunsets than sunrises... When I do get the opportunity to be conscious at dawn, it's usually because I've gotten up to go pee just at the right moment...

This very thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, In Manchester...

When I witness the sunrise, a sense of calm and wonderment washes over me. I'm in love with life at sunrise. Perhaps I should wake up and witness it everyday...

A Cheeky INTRODUCTION!

Central Park, NYC

Dearest reader (that's you),

Welcome to my first post!!! This should serve as some sort of introduction I suppose... Hiya, name's Bay. I'm a performance artist living in NYC. I write songs, I tell stories, I sing, AND I'm an out-and-proud ginger... (full disclosure, this post is cheesy as f&^k. Enjoy.)

So, why am I doing this blog??? Well, Long story short, here I am nearly 4 years out of school, and finally I feel like I'm ready to share myself openly and fully.

I've spent a great deal of time wrestling with my own personal self doubts, fearing that I'm 'not good enough...' In other words, I've been sheltering myself, and for no apparent reason, trying not to 'do me' too loudly --to fit in I guess... Well NO LONGER MY FRIENDS!

2016, is about letting go of these fears and truly embracing the work; Time to start living out all those Ted Talks I've watched from the comfort of my couch, and take bigger and bolder steps (see what I did there?). ONWARD AND UPWARD...! #YAS!

As the Brits say, "WHAT A LOAD OF WANK!" ... Yup, I know ;P But HEY, If you are still reading, your interest is somewhat peaked, am I right?

OKAY! SO, what to expect?

DEFINITELY NOT what you just read, at least very rarely I promise. This is my space to share with you my own personal perspective on life as I know it: from the coffees that I drink (I'm very pretentious about this), to the random photo shoots of random things that catch my eye, to videos of me & friends making songs and enjoying life, or to stream of consciousness that pines for yesteryear (not sure what I meant by that last one, but just go with it)...

Honestly, you might care very little about my life, and what I get up to --that's okay! If that's the case, don't subscribe :)

Love,
Bay xoxo
